- Still reeling in the aftermath of the new year, it’s nice to have some extra motivation to stick to your new year’s resolutions and The King of Kong is the perfect motivator.
- Whereas most documentarians might’ve taken the geeky exploits of video game champions at face value, Seth Gordin takes time to explore the players’ backstories and lives outside of gaming which gives the audience a better sense of who these players are as people instead of just gamers.
- One of the most refreshing aspects about King of Kong is how poignant it is despite the geeky subject matter. It took me a while to get around to seeing it, as I thought it was just a documentary about gamers, and was really surprised by how engaging it was.
- Overall this is a damn good documentary and one that should motivate you to work towards the goals you’ve set for yourself this year. It’s hard to pick one clip to exemplify the documentary so I’ve opted to post the trailer. Enjoy!
